Reading notes:

  • The Two Pigs:
    • Two pigs saw a woman walking down the street and they feared her
    • The woman brought the pigs to her home and fed them well and loved them
    • Sometime later there was a big festival and all of the meat was eaten so the people decided to kill the pigs
    • The woman refused at first but after drinking decided to give them just one 
    • When the pig was about to be taken he said powerful words and the two were brought to the Palace in celebration
  • The patient buffalo
    • There was a buffalo sleeping under a tree, and a monkey went up on his back to disturb the buffalo
    • The buffalo was unphased even as the monkey continued to become more of a nusance
    • A fairy approached the buffalo and asked why he had not done something
    • The buffalo said because the monkey is small and he does not want to hurt him
    • The fairy liked this and made the buffalo live happily
  • The Sarabha
    • There were a deer called the Sarabha that no one had ever seen
    • When the king went hunting he saw one and chased it for miles, but fell into a chasm
    • The Sarabha pulled him out and the King thanked him by never hunting in the forest again
  • The Goblin town
    • A ship crashed ashore on a desolate island
    • There were women who welcomed the men and brought them to their homes
    • One night, a man got up from hearing sounds for a Goblin
    • He realized that the women were goblins and told everyoe
    • A white horse flew down and away with those who realized they were not women at all
  • The Great Elephant
    • There was an elephant who lived in an Oasis in the desert 
    • One day he heard voices of men who were dying of thirst
    • The elephant talked to these men and threw himself off of a cliff to provide food for the men
    • The men felt horrible, but ate the elephant and got back to the town safely
  • The Qarrelsome Quails
    • There were quails that lived in a forest and everyday a villager came and caught them by the hundreds
    • The king of the quails told them all of poke their heads through the top of the net and fly up the hill to escape
    • This worked until two quails started fighting and the King flew his flock away from the two besides the ones that stayed
    • The ones that stayed were caught
  • The Forest Fire
    • There was a family of quails with one who did not have wings 
    • A forest roard in the forest and all of the other family members left but the little
    • As the fire approached the nest, the quail spoke to fire and the fire receded
  • The End of the World
    • A rabbit was looking at a tree thinking about how the world will end when a fruit fell below him
    • He began to run fearful that the world is ending 
    • More animals began to follow him until a lion stopped them and showed them the the earth was not falling apart
  • The Golden Goose
    • A goose king came and visited a king in the city showering it with gold 
    • The king rejoiced and the bird came back again before going back to the mountain
    • Two geese tried to race the sun, but the goose king came and saved them
    • The goose king then went back to the kingdom and spoke with the king before flying away forever
  • The Noble Horse
    • There was a very successful and fruitful kingdom so other kings wanted to destroy
    • In the kingdom there was a large and powerful horse
    • Seven of the kings got together to fight the successful kingdom and a knight mounted the noble horse defeating everyone, but the horse died because of the battles. The seven kings were released
